A conference to share ideas and experiences between Latin American, Asia-Pacific and Australian social movements, political organisations and individual activists, and to build solidarity with grassroots movements and political organisations fighting neo-liberalism.

The Australian socialist youth organisation Resistance wants to express solidarity with our comrades in Indonesia attempting to hold the Papernas congress in the face of anti-democratic attacks. We condemn the complicity of the Indonesian authorities in this attempt to prevent the congress from proceeding, and urge the government and police to permit the participants to gather and hold the event. We recognise the importance of this event in formulating an alternative political program for the people of Indonesia, one based on social and economic justice. In solidarity, Resistance.

Right now, January 19, the National Liberation Party of Unity (Papernas) conference in Indonesia is facing a concerted threat from right wing, anti-communist groups, with the help of the police. (click read more for more information) The Indonesian organisers are facing this threat directly, at the conference site, and they are asking for SMS messages, and letters of support.
