Thousands of people from all over Australia protested on December 20 to demand an end to Aboriginal deaths in custody and justice for Mulrunji. Currently there are protests being organised for Invasion Day, January 26 to continue to pressure the Queensland and Federal governments to bring Mulrunji's killers to justice.
In light of recent police violence in Aurukun and Palm Island, taking action against Aboriginal deaths in custody and for justice for Aboriginal people is crucial. Already the broad public response, including rallies, has forced the government to agree to a review of the Queensland DPP decision on the Mulrunji case.
