Emma Clancy Speaks on Copenhagen

I'm glad I've had an opportunity to see this video as I unfortunately missed Emma's talk at the Activist Centre in Perth. There seems to be a great deal of 'climate change scepticism' in the general community, promoted no doubt by the corporate interests Emma mentions, which are determined to protect their narrow profit interests at the expense of humanity's interest in bringing runaway climate change, with all its potentially dangerous consequences, under control. Over Christmas dinner this year, I got into an argument with other members of my family about climate change, most of whom were very sceptical about the science, and the threat. I thought that the science is very complex, and that I don't have the specialist knowledge to evaluate a lot of it. But then, I don't understand either the maths underlying Newton's mechanics, or Einstein's relativity theory. This ignorance on my part wouldn't justify rejecting the findings of physicists about the laws of motion or the space-time continuum. In the same way, the almost universal consensus among climate scientists about the threat facing us all from climate change must alarm every thinking person and galvanise us all to become active in the movement to prevent global warming.
