The World Can't Wait!
Resistance National Conference 2010
Thirroul Community Centre (Wollongong NSW)
April 24-26

Our future is uncertain. We live in a world in which the relentless drive for profits is killing the very environment we depend on to survive. War, poverty, racism and oppression dominate the lives of millions.

We are told we are powerless to change this. But together we have the power to change the world. We're taking action today, because tomorrow is too late.

Resistance is about fighting injustice today to build a sustainable and just world for the future. Resistance's national conference brings together activists from around Australia and the world to discuss, plan and build radical movements for justice, equality and sustainability.

For the first time in 11 years we are under a new government, a Labor government. PM Kevin Rudd’s government was elected off the back of mounting dissatisfaction with the continuing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, inaction on climate change, the Northern Territory intervention and Work Choices, but the battle for change has not been won.

Socialist Alliance Seventh National Conference

Fighting for socialism in the 21st century: Towards justice, sustainability and people’s power
January 2-5, Women’s College, University of Sydney

In the face of global environmental, economic and social crises that threaten billions of lives, if not the very survival of humanity, the need for fundamental social change is urgent. The world can’t wait, and the question of how to construct sufficiently strong social movements, fighting trade unions and alternative political organisations that can stop the capitalist parties’ neo-liberal rampage, warmongering and greenwashing confronts us all.

Answering this question will be the focus of discussions at the Socialist Alliance’s 7th national conference, sponsored by Green Left Weekly. The conference agenda includes educational workshops, and panel presentations and discussions to plan the Socialist Alliance’s policies and campaign activities for 2010.
