Defending Indigenous
Rights -
Resisting the NT Intervention
Come along to the next Resistance branch meeting to hear more about the indigenous and international solidarity gathering taking place from July 6-11 in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and the bus tours travelling from the east coast to the gathering, stopping at Lake Cowal, Roxby Downs and other sites of indigenous resistance to destructive mining. In 1965, students from the University of Sydney (pictured) travelled throughout rural NSW to expose racism and Aboriginal disadvantage; with the NT Intervention rolling back the historic gains on the Aboriginal Rights movement, the time has come again for progressive activists to stand up and show their support.
Come along for a discussion on the impacts of the Northern Territory Intervention after three years, and local plans to support the Mparntwe gathering.
We will also discuss local plans for building Resistance, upcoming events and fundraising.
